Roberta Wykoff
Lower School Director

Welcome to the Sayre Lower School. All of us, parents, faculty, and staff are part of a vibrant and welcoming community where we work together to make each child's Sayre experience a fantastic one. When designing the Lower School program, “what is best for the child” is always foremost in our minds. Our Lower School program is developmentally appropriate in its expectations and promotes the importance of a strong partnership between the home and school, a union that we feel provides the best educational experience for your child.

We have a dedicated staff of professionals who work hard to provide an academically sound, stimulating and challenging curriculum that comes alive on a daily basis. Through their commitment, the students are engaged in a learning process that addresses each child’s individual needs and learning style, thus helping them achieve their potential. Our classrooms are always places of excitement and energy where students learn the joy and importance of life-long learning.

Ms. Wykoff came to Sayre in August 2010 from Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, Virginia where she was the Lower School Head. Her background in education includes Head of Cornerstone Community School in Ohio as well as administrative and teaching positions at schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Her educational career has spanned thirty-eight years.

With a Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters in Education with reading certification from Slippery Rock College, an Education Specialty in Curriculum and Instruction from Kent State University, and work toward an Education Specialty in Leadership and Administration from George Washington University, Ms. Wykoff brings to the Sayre Lower School a reputation of great integrity, dedication, motivation, and compassion. Her strengths lie in her leadership skills, curriculum development, parent communication, encouragement of personal and professional growth in her faculty, and understanding of early childhood education. She brings out the best in her students, teachers, and colleagues.

You’ll find the excitement is contagious here at Sayre.
